Global audience insights from the third quarter of 2024

In the third quarter of 2024, Average Engaged Time was highest in the Middle East, Search traffic increased across the world, and pageviews from loyal visitors decreased in Southeast Asia.

Middle Eastern publishers continue to have the highest Engaged Time

Readers in the Middle East were the most engaged audience with 38.7 seconds of Average Engaged Time, up slightly from 38 in the previous quarter. Central / Eastern Europe followed with an Average Engaged Time of 36.9 seconds.

Southeast Asia saw the biggest increase from quarter to quarter, increasing from 26.8 seconds to 29.

Mobile traffic grows in Southern Europe

The percentage of pageviews coming from mobile devices in Southern Europe increased from 72% in the second quarter to 74% in the third quarter. Southeast Asia saw the largest decline, moving from 87% to 82%, and Central Asia led the way with 87%.

No region received less than 69% of its pageviews from visitors on mobile devices.

Search traffic grows across the world

54% of pageviews in Southeast Asia came from search engines in the third quarter, up considerably from 41% in Q3. Central Asia also experienced growth, rising from 47% to 50%.

No region saw a decrease in pageviews from Search in Q3.

Pageviews from social platforms rise in Southeast Asia

While African publishers saw a decline in pageviews from social networks in Q3, they continued to see the highest percentage. Southeast Asia followed, rising from 10% in Q2 to 18% in Q3.

Audience loyalty remains high in Northern Europe

Northern Europe had the highest percentage of pageviews coming from loyal readers at 50%. Central / Eastern Europe followed at 44%.

Southeast Asia experienced the largest decrease from quarter to quarter, declining from 33% to 13%.

Takeaways from our third quarter research

1. Average Engaged Time across the globe is 30 seconds.

Average Engaged Time ranged from 22.9 seconds in Central Asia to 38.7 seconds in the Middle East.

2. Pageviews from Search are growing.

Southeast Asia saw the largest increase in pageviews from Search and no regions saw a decrease from Q2 to Q3.

3. At least 69% of visits come from mobile devices.

In any given region, about 3 out of 4 site visits occur on mobile devices. In three of those regions, it’s more than 80%.
