What’s the difference between newsbeat and chartbeat?
While both newsbeat and chartbeat provide real-time analytics, newsbeat was built specifically with content publishers’ needs in mind. Newsbeat includes detailed tracking for every page on your site, user-specific, personalized dashboard views to show you what matters most for your job, and algorithms that actively model the path of every story and inform you immediately if something is happening you need to know about.
Why does "real time" matter?
Real time is an entirely different way of viewing both your site and your audience. It’s what’s happening right now - not what happened yesterday or last week. It transforms the purpose of analytics from reporting to response. Understanding the pulse of your site gives you the information you need to make decisions and adapt, while it matters.
What are "concurrent" visitors?
Concurrent visitors are the total number of people simultaneously on your site at any one moment in time.
What is a "seat"?
A seat is an individual license to a personalized newsbeat dashboard and account. Seats give you complete flexibility over who sees what, so everyone is focused on what's important to them. Each of the newsbeat plans comes with a preset number of seats, but you can add seats at any time.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Sure! You can adjust seats or concurrent limits at any point. Just contact us.
How do I know how many concurrent visitors I have on my site?
Measuring concurrent visitors combines visit events with time on site, so there’s no standard conversion between it and more traditional analytics like page views or uniques. For example, if 1 million people come to a site over the course of an hour and stay for five minutes, there will be approximately 8,000 concurrent visitors. However, if they stay for 30 minutes, there are 500,000 concurrent visitors. This is one of the reasons why we start with a 30-day free trial! :) Once the code is on your site, you’ll be able to get a good idea of your typical levels within the first week without having to pay a cent.
Will newsbeat slow down my site?
No. The newsbeat code doesn't load until everything else on your page has finished loading, so even if a tidal wave knocks out our offices it won't affect your pages. (For coders, our javascript is completely asynchronous).
Can newsbeat handle my site traffic?
Yes. Chartbeat and newsbeat handle millions of concurrent visitors every second of every day. We've survived federal elections, viral videos and middle eastern revolutions without any service interruptions. In addition, customers with a high number of concurrents are routed to their own dedicated servers to ensure top performance.
When will I be billed?
You will be billed for the first time after your 30-day free trial. Subsequent billings are in 30-day cycles.
What is the cancellation policy?
Site administrators can cancel any time through the settings panel. Or you can contact us.
